Alright loyal Lunchboxers. A week or so ago I let you in on a big secret – that I wasn’t feeling the love for running The Yoga Lunchbox anymore.
A record number of readers commented on this article… and there were some mighty interesting responses.
I had an offer from an astrology website to buy my content and shift it all to his website.
I countered with an offer to sell him the rights to re-publish YLB content, but I would keep The Yoga Lunchbox intact and up live on the web.
That offer was turned down, because of the way Google penalizes duplicate content.
I also offers from a few members of the New Zealand yoga community to take over the website. At first, that idea got me really excited. I thought it would be great to see The Yoga Lunchbox continue on under someone else’s guidance.
However, as the week went on, and I resumed my regular meditation practice with some help from Peter Fernando’s Month of Mindfulness course, I realised that while I need a break from The Yoga Lunchbox… it’s still my baby.
What’s more, I also realised as in meditation that it felt like I’d want to start up the website again within five months time.
One of the reasons that I’ve been wanting a break from The Yoga Lunchbox is it’s become such a huge part of my identity, and I need to find out who I am when I’m just Kara-Leah.
Now this is the fourth website I’ve started. I’ve got really good at WordPress, at creating a vision for a website, and at making it happen super-duper fast and easy.
However Kara-Leah, the website, was anything but super-duper fast and easy.
Everything seemed to take a huge amount of time, and I felt hampered by a lack of clarity and focused energy.
Of course, this was when I was also beginning to feel hemmed in by doing The Yoga Lunchbox…
See what was going on?
I couldn’t birth a brand new project while still tending to the growth of an older project. It was like trying to be two people at once.
Since deciding that I’m going to take a break from The Yoga Lunchbox, archive the website, and come back to it in a few months time… I’ve once again found energy, focus and clarity around Kara-Leah, the new website.
So here’s what’s going to happen.
In one month’s time, The Yoga Lunchbox will cease publishing new content.
Comments will be turned off. The Contact form will also be removed.
Advertisers will be able to leave any current ads on the website, as a bonus for paying up now.
The front page content will be set on random, so every day, different articles will show up in the various categories – which gives you a chance to catch up one what you haven’t read.
All subscribers, fans and followers are encouraged to stick around – stay subscribed, stay a fan, stay a follower.
You won’t be getting any new content, or Facebook updates, or tweets… for awhile at least.
But when the website starts up again – and it most certainly will be! – you’ll be the first to know because you’ll see The Yoga Lunchbox show up in your RSS Feed, Inbox, Facebook page or Twitter stream.
I’m really excited about this plan.
It feels like it keeps The Yoga Lunchbox resource available to the yoga community, and gives everyone a chance to catch up on old content.
It gives me a chance to take a breath and establish myself in my new life as a business woman, and single parent to my son Samuel.
Plus the break will give me time to get clear on what The Yoga Lunchbox is all about, how it serves the community, what I’m willing to put into it, and where it can go.
Come Friday July 15th… The Yoga Lunchbox will be archived… for a few months at least.
So, enjoy this month of fabulous new content, comment to your heart’s delight, and let’s go out with a bang!
